Grimm Wins Sickline Extreme Kayak Worlds in Habitat

Oct 08, 2009

The Wave Sport Habitat 80 was the boat of choice at the third annual Adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak Worlds this past weekend on the legendary Wellerbrücke, in Austria. Four of the top 12 finishers in the event paddled the Habitat 80 creek boat, including race winner Alexander Grimm. The winning margins were down to the hundredths of a second.

Olympic gold medalist, Alexander Grimm, paddled to a first place finish in the Habitat 80. Wave Sport athletes put up solid finishes of their own in one of the most grueling creek races on the planet. Tilo Schmitt (GER) placed sixth. Michele Ramazza (ITA) placed eighth. Jakub Nemec (CZE) placed twelfth. All were in the Habitat 80.

Congratulations go to Andrew Holcombe, as well. Andrew, a Dagger athlete and team manager, was a favorite going into the race. He paddled the Dagger Nomad 8.5 to a spectacular fifth place finish. Dagger is a sister brand to Wave Sport.

The Adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak Worlds has grown quickly to be one of the most sought after championship titles in the world of competitive kayaking. This year’s race included over 100 competitors from 22 countries. Wave Sport congratulates all the athletes and the spirit of fun and adventure that drives these events.
