Nantahala Open Raises Funds for Team River Runner

Apr 18, 2011

Wave Sport teamed up with Endless River Adventures over the weekend for the 2011 Nantahala Open!  The Nantahala Open is an annual event that raises money for Team River Runner, a non-profit organization that gives active duty service members and veterans an opportunity to find health, healing and new challenges through paddlesports.

A 'non-competitors' competition, paddlers pulled up to the launch pad above the Nantahala Falls to scout and to sign up for their chance at winning prizes for creative categories like "best carnage" and "best 'oh no what have I gotten myself into' face." Participants were also entered into a raffle for a chance to win a Wave Sport boat of choice. The Nantahala Open has gained the reputation as a fun competition for boaters of all levels.

Prizes were claimed at the after-party at Endless River Adventures with music by DJ Terence Young, beverages by Highland Brewing Company and a screening of the day's footage (always a hit!).  Congrats to Brian, the raffle winner and a proud new owner of a Habitat!

It was so great to see everyone come out to support a great cause and to have a little fun to boot!

Check out a few of the videos and pictures from the weekend!

I think that's a frog and a bull fighter coming down the falls..?

Elf ears always make for an exciting day on the river.

Lots of people demoed as well - including the new Project X series

Congrats, Brian, on your new Habitat!
