Trip Jennings
Nickname: Trip actually is my nickname, it's short for the third.
Age: 26
State/Hometown: Eugene, Oregon!
Favorite place to paddle: Little White Salmon, Washington
Playboat: Project 64
Creekboat: Habitat 80
Favorite Move: Oregon Tuck
Favorite Music: right now: Mischief Brew great folk punk
Favorite Drop: The coolest drop I've ever run is still the Money Drop in Stevenson Washington. It's an 80 footer with a 100 foot slide into it, or at least it was. The rock is so soft that it collapsed after LJ Groth and I ran it. It morphed into a much smaller drop, and now is back to its tall glory and has now been run and has been first descented...again. Can you get the second first descent of a drop?
Hobbies Besides Kayaking: When I'm not boating I spend most all of my time either gardening or working to protect wild places from being destroyed. My strawberry harvest is going to be huge this year. I'm gonna make a smoothie.
Accomplishments:
- First descent of the Lower Congo Rapids
- National Geographic Adveturer of the Year Honoree
- 2-time National Geographic Grantee
- Best Documentary-National Paddling Film Festival
- I brew dank hard apple cider.
Why you love kayaking: There is almost no better way to completely immerse yourself in a world that is real. When you're in the river, especially in whitewater, especially in whitewater that's challenging for you, civilization and all its noise may as well have collapsed. It's just you and the river... and the trees on the bank and I guess your friends shooting video but you know what I mean right?
