NEW!!! the PROJECT!

For the past year head designer Robert Peerson has been designing and testing the new Wave Sport playboat, the PROJECT. From team Wave Sport pros to local paddlers to our retail partners, Robert has once again proven that more input is better, and the PROJECT proves it!
Lots of people talk about how boat design has plateaued, but we beg to differ. We´re now in the REFINEMENT stage of design. What does this mean? It means two boats may appear to be very similar, but when you take a closer look, you´ll see that the devil is in the details, details we´re paying very close attention to and that affect the way a boat performs.
It´s been amazing to discover how much little changes can affect the FEEL of your boat on the water. If you could sum up how the PROJECT feels on the water, you would call it SMOOTH and CRISP. The way this boat carves on a wave is enough to get you grinning before you ever do your first move, and when you do you´ll notice the snappy, responsive nature of the edges. Combine this with the loosest, smoothest hull we´ve ever designed and you´ll be smiling ear to ear on your favorite wave. On top of this, get it in a hole and you´ll be stoked at how smooth and functional the volume distribution is, distributed to maximize fluid vertical moves and pop at the same time. OH, and I can´t forget comfort! I really like the way the Zero Gravity boats feel comfort-wise, but with the PROJECT we´ve stepped it up a notch yet again. Our instantly comfortable outfitting is now combined with even better boat ergonomics, meaning you can surf longer and focus on your paddling.
The Project comes in three sizes, 45, 52 and 60 gallon sizes (see specs below). These sizes fall in between the ZG 48 and 54, meaning we now have 5 sizes of high performance playboats for you to choose from! The PROJECT 52 will be in stores later this summer, with the 45 and 60 coming along around February 06. Each size is individually designed, not just re-sized, so if your big or small your not just getting a rehashed design optimized for the dimensions of a mid-sized paddler.

The Project is a result of countless hours spent contemplating, visualizing, discussing, experimenting and testing all the little things most people don´t even notice about a kayak. Even the smallest change in chine angle, sidecut profile, volume distribution, rocker profile, and how these variables interact lead to dramatic changes in performance. By taking time to explore the details, we´ve discovered new ways to improve how a boat interacts with water, and you. The Project is a result of our commitment to the art of refinement. It combines a fast, loose hull that hops and carves with a deck profile designed to maximize pop while maintaining fluidity during linked vertical moves. With three sizes we´ve been able to increase comfort for a wider range of paddlers and raise the bar on performance.
