We are now less than 2 weeks away from the US Freestyle Team Trials. This means that there are quite a few freestyle boaters right now who are feeling anxious, excited, focused, and generally fired up to try out for the opportunity to represent the USA in the 2013 Worlds in September.
Worlds and Team Trials are unique this year. They are both held on the Nantahala River in NC, which means Team USA will get quite the home field advantage at Worlds. Our trials should select the perfect team for the Worlds, as they are in the same feature! Its location has caused many more American paddlers to become focused on training freestyle, as it is in the heart of the Southeast boating scene and many have the chance to get some serious training time in the feature.
As for myself, I've been paddling in WV all winter and getting in the shape of my life off the river. Here's a short edit from a training session on the Gauley, then seeing how well my moves translate over to the actual competition hole in NC.
